Paul Dale Roberts reviews PFP's new Captain Gravity TPB
By PFP
October 24, 2006

This is what they say: "In an homage to the Golden Age of Hollywood and that era's serial storytelling, a young man working in the heart of the 1930s movie industry finds his destiny amid B-movie sets, pre-war international intrigue, and archaeological discoveries that shake the foundation of human history." The hero Joshua Jones is granted power over gravity by the ancient and mysterious Element 115. As a hero, he must also deal with prejudice and must hide behind a mask to keep his identity secret. If you have never read the series, here is your chance to pick up the gorgeous...I mean gorgeous graphic novel, it's worth every penny. The artwork will absolutely dazzle you. The graphic novel is so pretty, I didn't even want to open it. The artwork is so graphically detailed, the colors are right on cue. The artwork itself is mouth-watering. Since, I have reviewed almost every issue of Captain Gravity, I won't get into many details, but in this graphic novel, you will learn the truth about the vril. You will witness the amazing flying abilities of Captain Gravity and think of Disney's Rocketman. Joshua will learn about the Swastika and how this symbol has ancient roots with cultures like Hopi Indians, Buddhists, Jains, Hindus, who all respect the Swastika, because it represents infinity, the sun's power, etc. You will learn that Element 115 is a gift from the Itza Maya Gods, who were perhaps stranded aliens, here on Earth. They were probably the very same gods that Mel Gibson references in his upcoming movie Apocalypto, the same gods that have shown the Mayans that civilization as we know it ends in 2012. But, that is another story. See what happens, a complex story like Captain Gravity, will send you in all kinds of directions and have you thinking about this and that. Like it had me thinking about the history of the Swastika, which is amazing in itself! You will have fun watching Captain Gravity learn the ways of his newfound powers. You will scream at the Darth Vader looking Nazis. You will cheer as frauline Dubois meets Hitler and attempts to take his life. You will be saddened when Captain Gravity tells how he had to take a life. Captain Gravity has virtuoso plot twists and is a real humdinger, with this graphic novel you get a wonderously taut adventure with mystery added, ticking away like a malevolent clock. This is fabulous reading, breathless excitement and I sit here and take myriad pleasure in watching a great mind at work, his name is Joshua Dysart.
