PFP CONVENTION SEASON KICKS OFF WITH HEROES CON!

Houston, TX–June 9, 2006–Penny-Farthing Press (PFP) announced recently that the company will attend the Heroes Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, June 30 through July 2. “For the past few years, we’ve been limiting our convention attendance to San Diego Comic-Con International,” PFP publisher Ken White said, “but we’d like to branch out this year and share our great product line with as many convention goers as possible. We are thrilled to start the con season at the Heroes Convention.”

Launched in 1982 due to the growing demand in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a larger comic-book venue, the Heroes Convention has attracted such celebrity guests as Howard Chaykin, Gene Colon, Tony Harris, Adam Hughes, Jim Lee, Stan Lee, George Perez, Joe Quesada, John Romita, Sr. and Jr., Jeff Smith and Marv Wolfman just to name a few. The 2006 show will mark the 25th anniversary of the convention and will feature among many special guests Steve Niles and J. Michael Straczynski. The Indie Island, a 2005 addition to the show, will also focus special attention on small and independent presses.

“This is a win-win situation for us,” White explained. “Not only does the show celebrate smaller publishers but we get to be a part of the Heroes’ anniversary celebration as well.”

Penny-Farthing Press will offer convention attendees exposure to all its titles and will exclusively debut the Decoy: Menagerie, Part 2 anthology at the show months before the book reaches stores.

PFP will also attend the San Diego Comic-Con International July 19 through July 23 and SPX, the Small Press Expo, in Bethesda, Maryland, October 13 and October 14.

Founded in 1998 by Ken White and founding Editor-In-Chief Marlaine Maddux, Penny-Farthing Press employs both veteran and unknown individuals in production of the company’s publication line; a line which has received numerous awards and critical accolades in PFP’s short existence such as the prestigious Spectrum Award and the Gutenburg Metal D’Argent for Excellence in Printing. Furthermore, Penny-Farthing Press publishes a limited number of titles per year in order to ensure quality and a grass roots connection with readers all over the world. This “boutique” approach is unique in the comics industry and allows only the finest products to leave PFP’s doors. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.
