FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Houston, TX – January 2004 – The popularity of Penny-Farthing Press’ recent relaunch of the Captain Gravity mini-series has resulted in the complete sell out and reprint of the first issue of the new six-issue story arc: Captain Gravity and the Power of the Vril.
“We’re just elated,” PFP Publisher Ken White explained. “I have a special place in my heart for Captain Gravity. It’s the first title Penny-Farthing released, but it also reminds me of the comics I loved as a kid. Ultimately, I wanted to recapture that magic and pulpy feel from my childhood and pay homage to the Golden Age of comics. The fact that readers are on the same page means a lot to me.”
Created by Stephen Vrattos, Captain Gravity first hit comics stands in 1998 and told the story of an African-American hero fighting Nazis and racial prejudice during Hollywood’s Golden Era. The new series expands on that premise and sends the main character into the midst of World War II in the late 1930’s.
Captain Gravity and the Power of the Vril, Issue 1 was released in December and sold out its initial printing by early January. The continued orders for the title from various distributors and direct order buyers convinced White to go back to press.
“We didn’t want to leave anybody out, so we are going to do something a little different,” White said. “We are going to produce a second printing of Issue 1 with an alternate cover.”
The second printing of Captain Gravity and the Power of the Vril, Issue 1 will be available in March 2005, complete with a variant cover image by Sal Velutto and Mike Garcia. Fans and retailers can order the re-issue through major comics distributors, as well as, through Penny-Farthing Press at www.pfpress.com.
Penny-Farthing Press’ comic book line includes Decoy, The Victorian, Captain Gravity, Para, and Zendra. Their line of children’s books includes The Loch trilogy.
