Comments: Captain Gravity took me for a head-spinning ride that I still haven’t recovered from! Right from the beginning there is a strange summoning of a demon spirit that goes by the name of Romulous. So, I am here pondering...what this is all about?
Let me tell you something before I get into the story. The artwork is absolutely amazing!! You have to stop at each panel and just admire the beauty of the penciling that Sal Velluto did. Not to mention the fine coloring and inking too!
The visuals work superbly with this exciting story! Now back to the story in hand. There is a shift to Movietone presents Captain Gravity.
Captain Gravity is an actor that portrays a character that is sort of like Rocketman. Captain Gravity doesn’t realize it yet, but he is about to become a major superhero too. The presentation by Movietone is done in black and white and looks like some old film footage. Very well done. The story has a foothold in reality as the threat of Benito Mussolini is mentioned. The reader is introduced to Jan Gunther and the woman he supposingly loves named Chase Dubois, he wickedly injects some kind of knock out drug into her blood system. Another character is introduced, Yefimovich - journalist from St. Petersburg and he becomes intertwined in this strange story. There is a description of the Muslim call to prayer…that is thrown into the background of the story, making the story even more realistic. A strange adventure in a strange land. The German Nazis are seeking the truth of the Swastika and mysteries will abound from here on out. Jan Gunther takes his drugged lover Chase Dubois to Libya. Come to find out that Chase may be in a life threatening situation, because she may be a spy that was sent out to watch her German captor Jan Gunther. To dig up some of these mysteries, requires extensive archaeology. A feel of Indiana Jones, Alan Quatermain and Lara Croft’s adventures touch upon this powerful and dramatic story. If Chase is working for the Feds, will Captain Gravity be there in time to save her? Well the cliffhanger ending will mortify you and I don’t want to give away the ending, you’ll just have to see for yourself.
You can’t miss this comic book, the cover itself jumps from the shelves. Captain Gravity & the Power of the Vril is electrifying! So much so, I’m still frazzled! Wow!
